I would have helped you more but I don't have my Max on the PC anymore, so I can't take a look at any more possible solutions. The only things that come to my mind are somehow completely reseting the UI or as you may fear the most, reinstalling 3Ds Max.
Now the thing is there is a computer next to the one that is now buggered and it has the same 3DS max on it and I was wondering can I do this an easy way and copy some files from that pc and put them in the other buggered program's folder to make it work again and if that is possible what do I copy pasta?
A week ago (yes I am lazy when it comes to fixing problems) I tried out a plug in for 3DS max 2008 in which you could easily save the vector lay out of your made poly or object, problem was that when I installed it it didn't work and so I had to un-install it (to prevent certain problems with max aka freezes and error alerts) however with the un-installing of the plug in my entire modifier list simply vanished, easily said when I open the modifier list I see nothing in the list at all.
